The goal of this program is to improve the recognition of dependent adult abuse, the managment of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and acute stress disorder (ASD). After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to: 1.Identify risk factors for abuse and neglect among dependent adults. 2.Report any suspicions or evidence of elder and dependent adult abuse through proper channels. 3.Recognize physical, behavioral, and social clues that indicate abuse of dependent adults. 4.Describe characteristic symptoms of PTSD and ASD. 5.Obtain a thorough patient history about psychologic trauma and symptoms.
