The goals of this activity are to improve the prevention and diagnosis of cardiovascular disease, as well as the management of patients with cardiovascular disease. After completing the activity, the clinician will be better able to: 1.Summarize emerging safety and efficacy data on cell therapies and gene therapy for the treatment of heart disease. 2.Discuss controversies related to the use of nonvitamin K oral antagonists in patients with atrial fibrillation who have undergone stenting. 3.List factors that can lead to patients being erroneously classified as having resistant hypertension. 4.Summarize highlights from a new focused update of guidelines covering the duration of dual antiplatelet therapy in patients with coronary artery disease.
