This interactive case study will address the monitoring and management of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients who are taking disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drug (DMARD) therapy. Appropriate monitoring of RA patients for disease flares is presented, and management of infections in these patients is discussed. The case includes a discussion of the need for tight control of RA in these patients. Commentary from actual RA patients regarding their experiences with DMARD therapy, disease flares and infections is included.
