The goals of this activity are to improve the prevention and diagnosis of cardiovascular disease, as well as the management of patients with cardiovascular disease. After completing the activity, the clinician will be better able to: 1.List important changes in the 2014 guidelines for managing patients with valvular heart disease compared to earlier guidelines. 2.Summarize specific aspects of daily clinical practice that can help identify overweight and obese patients who can benefit from weight loss and lifestyle changes. 3.Describe the connections between cardiovascular risk, stroke, and dementia. 4.Discuss recent trials of advanced imaging for diagnosis of cardiovascular disease and patient prognosis.
